Lelkész, tudós, tanár.<br /> <br /> =Élete=<br /> <br /> Iskoláit Nagyócsán kezdte. 1691-től Losoncon, Kálnón és Alsósztregován, 1695-től Besztercebányán és Pozsonyban tanult. Pozsonyban megismerkedetett a pietista mozgalommal. 1700-1701-ben Veszprémben tanulta a magyar nyelvet, a következő évben Pápán nevelő. 1704 után a hallei egyetemen teológiát hallgatott. 1707-ben Bergenben, két év múlva Besztercebányán, 1714-től a Pozsonyban az Evangélikus Líceum igazgatója, majd 1719-től haláláig az ev. gyülekezet lelkésze. 1744-től esperes. Magyar és német nyelvkönyveit közel száz éven át kiadták. 1721-ben Nova Posoniensia címmel kiadta az első, hetente megjelenő latin nyelvű hírlapot. Korának legjelentősebb magyarországi tudósa volt, sokoldalú tevékenysége évszázadokig hatást gyakorolt hazánk tudományos életének fejlődésére. 1734-1735-ben Balatonfüreden járt.
