Nagyon sok településnek van &quot;napi használatra&quot; rövid neve. Természetesen csak olyan település esetén lehetséges ez, amelyiknek a neve két, esetleg három különállóan is értelmes szóból tevődik össze. Például Pestre utazunk és nem Budapestre. Székesfehérvár csak Fehérvár, Hódmezővásárhely pedig Vásárhely a mindennapi használatban. Hogy közelebbit is említsünk, Vörösberény nekünk csak Berény, bár ez esetben óvatosan kell a rövid nevet használni, miután jó néhány Berény nevű település van kis hazánkban. Így van ez Balatonalmádival is. Eredetileg Almádi volt a hivatalos elnevezése, az akkor még hegyközségnek, illetve községnek. Nézzük, hogy is van a 100 éves jubileum, mit mond a vonatkozó törvény.<br /> <br /> &quot;A magyar királyi belügyminiszter az 1909. január hó 25-én 84.672/908 szám alatt kelt rendeltével, Veszprém vármegye községeinek neveit az 1898. évi IV.t.cz. 2. §-a és ugyanezen rendeletével a Veszprém vármegye községei területén levő puszták, telepek, majorok és egyéb lakott helyek neveit az 1898. évi IV t.-cz. 3. §-a alapján a következőleg állapította meg.&quot;. Ezután járásonként felsorolja a települések eddig használt nevét, ezt követően az új nevét és a hozzá tartozó egyéb lakott helyek neveit sorolja fel.<br /> <br /> Előzőekből következően némi késéssel, de még 2009-ben &quot;ünnepelhetjük&quot; Balatonalmádi, 80 évig községi, 20 éve városi létét.
