Vegyészmérnöki oklevelet 1912-ben a budapesti műegyetemen szerzett. Az Országos Chémiai Intézetben dolgozott, majd a Budapesti Felsőipar-iskolában tanított. 1920-tól a Városlődi Kőedénygyár műszaki tanácsadója. Itt Ő dolgozta ki a massza és a máz összetételét. 1949-től a NEVIKI szilikátkémiai osztályának vezetője, 1951-től 1957-ig, nyugdíjazásáig a Veszprémi Vegyipari Egyetem tanára. Az MTA Szilikátkémiai Albizottságának elnöke, a szakterület szervezeteiben és intézményeiben aktívan dolgozott. A hazai tűzállóipari és kerámiai nyersanyagok minősítésének kérdéseivel, új vizsgálati módszerek kidolgozásával, agyagásványok szerkezetével és a kerámiai égetés folyamán az anyagban végbemenő átalakulások folyamataival foglalkozott.
