Az MTA levelező tagja. <br /> <br /> =Élete=<br /> <br /> Gyermekéveit Soroksáron, Győrben és Komáromban töltötte. Középiskoláit Komáromban, Budapesten és Esztergomban végezte. 1890-ben lépett a Szent Benedek Rendbe. 1896-ban szentelték pappá. 1898-ban Budapesten tanári diplomát szerzett. Előbb Pápán majd Pannonhalmán tanár. 1905-től levéltár- és könyvtárőr. Kutatásokat végzett magyar és nyugat-európai levéltárakban.
